📲 How to Pay Without Queuing: The easiest and fastest way to travel on all public transport in Naples (Metro Line 1, Line 2, Line 6, Funiculars, Alibus, Buses, and Cumana) is the Tap & Go system: simply bring your contactless credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Amex) or your smartphone/smartwatch (Apple Pay, Google Pay) close to the enabled readers (yellow turnstiles) with no additional fees!
⚠️ The 4 Golden Rules to Remember:
Tap-In on Entry AND Tap-Out on Exit: On the Metro (L1, L2, L6), Funiculars, and Cumana, you must tap your card both at the entrance turnstile (Tap-In) and at the yellow exit turnstile (Tap-Out) at the end of your trip, so the system calculates the correct minimum fare. On Buses and Alibus, however, you only tap your card when boarding.
"One Card = One Passenger" Rule (And the trick for couples!): You cannot tap the exact same physical card for two people simultaneously. 💡 Useful tip: If you only have one bank account, one person can use the physical plastic card and the other person can use their Smartphone (via Apple Pay or Google Pay) linked to that same card—the system reads them as two separate cards!
Automatic Daily Cap (€4.50): By continuing to use the same card or phone on ANM transport (Metro Line 1, Line 6, Funiculars, and urban buses), each ride costs €1.30, but from the 4th ride onwards on the same day, the system automatically caps your spending at €4.50 (the cost of the daily ticket) and you travel for free on ANM vehicles until midnight!
Free for Children: Children under 6 years old travel for free on all public transport when accompanied by a paying adult.
📋 Quick Fare Summary:
ANM Single Ride (Metro L1, L6, Funiculars, Bus): €1.30
ANM Daily Ticket (automatic with Tap & Go after 3 rides): €4.50
Alibus Airport Shuttle: €5.00 (special fare not included in the daily cap)
🇬🇧 Tickets, Fares & "Tap & Go" Contactless System: The easiest way to pay for public transport in Naples is Tap & Go: simply tap your contactless credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) or smartphone/smartwatch (Apple Pay, Google Pay) on the yellow readers at the station gates with no extra fees!
⚠️ 4 Golden Rules:
Always Tap-In AND Tap-Out: At all Metro, Funicular, and Train stations, you must tap your card both when entering (Tap-In) and when exiting (Tap-Out) at the yellow gates. On Buses and Alibus, only tap once when boarding.
One Card = One Passenger: Each traveler needs a separate card or device. 💡 Clever tip: If you share one bank account, Person 1 can tap the physical card and Person 2 can tap a Smartphone (Apple/Google Pay) linked to that same card—the system counts them as two separate cards!
Automatic €4.50 Daily Cap: On ANM lines (Metro Line 1, Line 6, Funiculars, and City Buses), single rides cost €1.30, but after your 3rd ride on the same day using the same card, the system automatically caps your daily spend at €4.50!
Children: Kids under 6 years old travel FREE when accompanied by a paying adult.
